About You

Michelle Horwitz is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Missouri with training and experience serving children and caregivers who have endured trauma and/or are involved in the child welfare system. After eight years in the New York City commercial photography industry, Michelle changed careers to focus on her passion for promoting children and family well-being with a focus on caregiver-child relationships. Her clinical interests include: the long-term effects of repeated exposure to early traumatic and distressing experiences, the impact of stress on the developing brain, and treatment protocols that reduce and/or prevent the functional impairment of mental illness in adulthood with early intervention in childhood.  Michelle seeks to identify mechanisms within the local community that can be leveraged to have a positive impact on infants and families. She aims to further integrate developmental approaches to psychopathology and prevention science to inform empirically based policy in order to promote the well-being of infants and families through systems change more broadly.
